I fell in love with Mexico on my first visit, to Yucatan in 2023. It was soon clear that I would be back.

On that trip, for the first time, the family talked in more depth about my uncle and aunt's family business – the work, effort and passion behind it. After a while I realised: I want to be part of this!

The visit to Taxco was another highlight. The seriousness and passion of the local artisans were very impressive. By then at the latest, I was convinced that Mystic Maya should stay in the family.

I gained my first experience in 2025 and had the opportunity to meet many of you in person at INOVA.

After a period of preparing together, I am now looking forward to the start.

Lena Rumpold

In 2023 I was able to visit Mexico for a second time and was still captivated by the variety, the colours and the ingenuity of the people there. My wish to come back soon came true two years later.

In the meantime I have met some of you at trade fairs and learnt to look at jewellery with fresh eyes.

This time my return to Mexico came with a task – to visit the silversmiths in Taxco, get to know the local silver market and help choose the jewellery. The friendliness of the people, the great artistry of the silversmiths and the variety of the jewellery left a lasting impression.

Elke Rumpold

When the office moved to my home town of Frankfurt, I began working for Mystic Maya, and the small business became a family business.

I have been with Mystic Maya for almost 20 years. My visit to the silver town was ten years ago now, yet the memories of countless impressions, of the craftsmanship and of watching individual pieces being made there are as vivid as ever.

Working together and connecting Mexico and Germany – that was our wish. That the next generation of the family is taking over more than 20 years later makes us very happy and proud. We will both carry on advising behind the scenes and – at least at the start – you will still find us at trade fairs!
